I think Magic wants to institute a fitness program similar to Pat Riley's system in Miami.

I wouldn't be surprised if Miami Heat trainer Bill Foran's son is hired to head up the program here.

Read this great article to get an understanding of what the program is all about.

This is wishful thinking but what if the Lakers target Kobe's personal trainer, Tim Grover?

They took Kobe's advice in hiring Pelinka as GM, wouldn't it be a perfect fit to hire the trainer that was working side by side with Kobe for all his legendary offseason training regiments?

I believe Magic and Rob are looking for a younger fitness coach.

Grover was also Michael Jordan's trainer starting in 1989. He's not a young pup. They might as well bring Gary Vitti back.

Puke barrels in the gym again it sounds like if Magic's going the Riley route. Old school.

Not a fan of the puke barrels, but who hasn't thrown up in the gym or at practice?

Is this the regime that kept Deng alive, or took years off his career like a blowtorch on a prayer candle?

Tim Grover is selective in who he works with. If they aren't 100% in, he's not wasting his time.

Grover wouldn't do it. I would be curious who they'd bring in.

DiFrancesco knew his stuff, but he clearly wasn't getting the message across either. Besides, new regimes tend to want their own guys in anyway. I'll be curious who they replace him with.

Interesting move. Perhaps one culprit of our crap defense is guys not being in shape. Wasn't that Byron's big thing though?

Is there really something special about Miami? I don't watch a lot of Heat basketball but what kind of shape are they in versus any other NBA team?

As the article already mentions, the Heat went 30-11 in the 2nd half of this season to acquire a .500 record at the end of the year. This is without D-Wade, Bosh, or Lebron. Their five high-minute players are Justice Winslow, Goran Dragic, Hassan Whiteside, Josh Richardson, and Dion Waiters. The Heat claim part of the reason for their late-season surge is because of the fitness regimen.

If we can get a .500 record next year, acquiring PG in 2018 becomes more doable.

Interesting. I thought he is pretty good but its hard to judge on the outside. We don't really know if he was great or not. And we also don't know why he left.

    Eh.

Holmes always finds the most anti-Laker quote he can get his hands on. There's a million trainers out there right now. A couple on this site would do alright.

Writing was on the wall as soon as Magic pretty much called the team Chubby. I'm not going to pretend to be upset about this.
