If we are unwilling to trade our young core this summer for all star talent, then yes. Otherwise, no.

Money doesn't come close to working out on that trade, though.

I would trade him for a couple of second rounders.

But the question is would the Mavs do that? The answer is hell no.

    And welcome to the forum

We'd be the one giving them a future first for Luka.

And yes, I'd do that in a millisecond.

Hahahah. Is that a trick question? Honestly, I would trade Lebron for a 1st round pick and then go sign D-Lo and Randle and leave the kids the eff alone.

The fact that this board is so ready to give up on James for unproven young players (other than Donicic, of course) is sad. You'd honestly be looking at a repeat of what happened in Minnesota.

First, welcome new guy. Just like trading away our first superstar in years, I know you're eager to start up a discussion, but here's a crazy idea...maybe you can post these trade proposals here:

    http://lakersball.com/threads/official-unsubstantiated-trade-suggestions-speculation-and-rumors.22/

But what do I know? This is the guy that defended the Lakers on a Laker forum in the WMC thread. Same guy that blasted a non-laker with b**** tendencies aka Paula and some Laker fans got issue with it, but attacking a Laker woman in power in Jeanie and making demeaning comments towards her is completely fine...on a Lakers board. Haha..Go figure.

And I guess I just derailed a thread. But in all fairness, this thread doesn't belong. But crazier things (ideas) happen here all the time.

If that trade happened, maybe I could start watching the Lakers again.

It's extremely pathetic to see our fan base turn on a guy who put up 27/8/8 in his 16th season in less minutes - and vehemently defend losers like Ingram and Kuzma who improved very little, have never been a part of a winning season in the NBA, and should honestly be on the next trade out of here.

I'm going to dispel this myth that LeBron doesn't play defense. He's obviously not going to go balls out like in Miami, but to be honest, no 16th year vet is. However, LeBron is a lot smarter than you guys give him credit for, and was often in the right place at the right time, but someone like Kuzma would screw up and give up an open shot. Then, somebody on reddit makes a gif that looks like LeBron didn't close out, and all of a sudden the memes spread.

If you don't understand the Lakers defensive rotations, you SHOULD NOT be criticizing any one player on their lack of defense, especially off some GIF.

Now, the Lakers had very odd PnR rotations in order to prevent single side tag situations. That may be why you expected LeBron to rotate in one case, but in fact it was someone else's job, who messed it up. LeBron wasn't perfect, but you need to dive deeper into this if you really want to understand what was wrong with our defense. If you hate the counterintuitive rotations, then blame Luke - like I have been.

Watch this video. It's a 3 part series, but this last part focuses in particular on what I was talking about. It's by a former NBA scout who understands exactly what we were trying to do on the defensive end, and shows you more often than not, LeBron made the right read, but some inexperienced player f***ed it all up.

    I love offseason threads.

No, you don't trade LeBron. We're so much closer to contention than people think. Player assets, cap room, LeBron. We have a 10% chance at a top 4 pick as well (trying to be optimistic here).

You don't want to piss of Klutch either. LeBron will one day retire, but his influence on where free agents land after he hangs them up will continue. He and Rich Paul are basically a shadow government.

Anthony Davis is done in NO. Who outside of Boston can outbid us? And does Boston unload Tatum when Kyrie leaves? I'll believe it when I see it. Don't forget Griffin running the show in NO now either. I think the "over our dead body" attitude is now gone.

I'm not concerned at all. LeBron is getting his rest and this experiment was always all about the 2019 season. Some people just get so angry, upset, and point their fingers. If I would have told people a year ago we have Lebron, all the young talent, and no shortage of free agent options you'd take that all damn day.

No I would not trade James unless he demanded one....would be a bad look to trade the only star to have come here in yrs after only 1 yr of turmoil even if its the right decision. This franchise has taken several black eye over the course of this past season and subsequent resignation of Tragic.

dallas wouldn't do it, so it's moot. but i wouldn't, either, for the same reasons khmr suggested. lebron choosing the lakers is like, the only good thing that's happened in the past 6 years. and he might have done so in part because we treated aging kobe better than everyone said we should. keep him if only to preserve that tiny portion of the brand.
