Many good things about Chandler being here. First, he went right into the Wilt Chamberlain role of the '72 Lakers, rebound and play D. That's what we need most. That will really help every single game. He can't sprint out like McGee does, but it's amazing that we don't really lose anything defensively when Javale comes out now. As long as he can give us 15-20 every night we just improved a LOT simply by having him here.

Also as Vash says, this team is now built for the playoffs. Having that vet leadership and mindset that Chandler brings and chemistry with Rondo and Lebron will be huge for us down the stretch. In the meantime, we needed to actually get the wins to get to those playoffs and Tyson helps us close out games as we saw last night. We needed him badly.

Hmm. No, they do get credit for him because obviously they went after him and got him here. I'm sure he had other suitors as well and he obviously wanted to compete. They did well in making us attractive enough to lure him here and then pulling the trigger.

He has the same agent as BI. That’s what having a former agent as a GM gets you. You know how to get players.

No. Chandler wanted to come here because we had an obvious need and PT was going to be available to him.

We didn't have to do any "recruitment". And we shouldn't have been in this position to begin with. Signing Beasley, re-signing KCP, letting Lopez go and renouncing Randle's rights (when we didn't have to) were colossal bad moves from the front office that many of us questioned at the time and it revealed itself in the first 10 games time after time.

Magic lashed out at Luke and rightfully so...but Luke shoudl also be lashing out at these guys for giving him a flawed roster and a bunch of vets that need to play but don't play defense!

No. Tyson has been rather upfront that he wanted to be here because he wanted to be part of this team and he valued coming home.

Magic and Rob deserve credit for creating an environment that players want to be a part of and of course they deserve credit for finding a good fit. We could have signed any stupid big man that's out there right now including Joakim Noah. We got the right one. Trying to take credit from them is a disservice to their work. You can dislike some of what they've done while also recognizing what they've done well.

Luke asked for a backup 5 and he got one. How do you not give credit to Magic and Rob for signing Chandler? Just because Chandler wanted to come here? He wouldn't have wanted to come here before with Jim and Mitch in charge. Credit where it's due. Magic and Rob signed him. By your logic Magic and Rob don't get any credit for signing Lebron because he wanted to be here for his extracurricular entertainment endeavors and his family's desires.

I loved that he finished the game too. McGee is great for quick starts and for offensive pushes. But Tyson has that experience to finish the game when we need it most, and not needing to go small.

Tooting my own horn a little.

Having Chandler allows McGee to go a little harder out there since we don't need him all 48 mins. Chandler may not be some big offensive threat but he's a vet that does the little things we need, like Zaza for the Warriors.

Interestingly enough, we now have four champions on our team. That should help if we make the playoffs.

My point is...why did it take a BUYOUT from a player to fill that void at the back up 5? We shouldn't have had this problem to begin with and our FO ignored it over the summer and this was the result!

We got LUCKY that the SUNS and CHANDLER agreed to a buyout.

But that 15th roster spot was open for a reason...

LA didn't rush into filling it knowing options were available and were going to come in due time. Also it was reported that 5 teams were interested and reached out, but TC chose us.

it wasn't ignored. we got mcgee. we had zubac. the backup center market, especially ones with chandlers skills, was pretty much nonexistent. unless you knew of one magic and rob didn't, i'm all ears.

i don't get why "luck" has anything to do with it. phoenix drafted a big and no longer needed chandler, so he got bought out and Tyson CHOSE the Lakers based on what Magic and Rob built.

Every year there are guys like Chandler that get bought out. Being patient and waiting for a backup Center wasn’t pure luck. It was a matter of time.

Fascinating but we might have an unexpected friend in Phoenix of all places. And it's all due to LeBron of all people.

All his possessions defending KAT last night. Great defense.
