There's something to be said for the rarity of a threepeat.

Healthy Kawhi would mean less drama. Even if he skipped a whole season he is not acting as weird as KD post OKC.

Kawhi and Lebron. Drama level 4500

    Lebron and KD. 9500.

Forgive me for not knowing this but did we really have two max spots? I thought it only came to pass after Dung was bought out... which set us up for this coming summer.

I thought the slot was less than the max and that’s why we ran through scenarios where Paulina and Bron would take a little less.

And you would be correct. More extreme measures probably with loss already of more young players would have been necessary all under the gun.

@therealdeal If the dubs 3peat, why would KD leave? He would be in position to compete for an even rarer "Quat-row".

@Big Mamma Jamma We waived Deng on Sept. 1st so that he would be eligible to be a free agent on the 1st available day this summer with his dead cap only affecting our books for 3 years vs 5 years had we stretched him on July 1st (the 1st day of free agency). The fact that we also waived him on Sept. 1st with a buyout amount tells me that that number was agreed to for a max next summer, so if we needed extra wiggle this summer, he would have given it to us as long as it was within that 7.5m ballpark amount he gave back to us.

If you consider Bron, Zo, BI, Kuz, Hart, Zu, Moe, Svi, Bonga and Deng's dead cap our team salary would be = 65.4m and with 9 on the roster that adds 2.5m in an incomplete roster charge so the total team salary comes out to 67.9m....so that gives us 34m in cap space for this summer and that is with Deng giving us zero back in a buyout.

KD signed for 30m this summer and Paula's year 1 max was 30.6m. We had enough to get either one of those dudes. Now if you believe Bron/KCP was a joint package this summer, then you're right, we didn't have enough. All we could have offered KCP was the room exception of 4.5m.

Seriously. No way KD was going to leave this past summer after winning again and being the absolute best bet to do it once again this season.

But I'm with therealdeal, I feel like there is some trouble brewing in paradise up there and they may not be able to keep all of it together past this year. A super team with all of those young guys and their egos? There were intimations of things not being that smooth last year between all the personalities. Winning of course cures all ills. But I'm not sure how they can keep the band together so to speak forever.

At some point I think Durant wants to lead his own team. The GS brand is the splash brothers along with Draymond. I could see Durant jumping ship next summer after one more chip to do his own thing. If he does the obvious place is LA teamed up with Lebron. Durant will indeed be the upcoming star of the franchise as Lebron heads into his later years. It all makes sense. More so in a way than Kawhi who just isn't that kind of personality. LA would be perfect for KD.

KD, Lebron and the kids would be the odds on favorites for a title, IMO. Losing KD would truly hurt GS's dominance.

There’s smoke here IMO but it’s impossible to know how real it is at this point. Part of me thinks KD just wants to feel the love a bit more, the Warriors will naturally shower him with praise and he’ll end up staying.

Because if he wins again and wins Finals MVP again, why stay there if he's not happy being part of that group? Go somewhere where you're happier. Go win a three-peat in LA. KD lives here in the off-season I believe. This is the best brand for any NBA player.

I mean why did LeBron join us at all, right? Stay in Cleveland and keep going to the Finals... Or build something new here in LA.

I'm not saying there's a great chance, but I think there's a greater chance than people think. Right now? I'd look at it as probably in the 15-25% range. Let's see if any more smoke gathers.

KD could be experiencing fatcat-itis, meanwhile its been a minute since we seen Finals MVP Kawhi and dude has alot to prove. Jimmy Buckets is hungry to get his first title. That is why I prefer the latter 2 at the moment.

Plus, I want the beast to remain so that we can take them down as is. I want to beat them rather than they beating themselves (ie cap casualties).

Its a matter of the narrative, but I'm good if he comes too. Either way, I just want #17 and beyond. I'm tired of "developing"...lets get to competing!

I think Golden State issues will have to do strictly with money available. If they pay Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Kevin Durant, and DeMarcus Cousins all big money, they will be in serious repeater luxury tax hill.

Do they all decide to sacrifice $10 million per to stay together? I seriously doubt it, so that means some changes will be coming. I think they retain one of Kevin Durant or Klay Thompson.

DMC is an unknown quantity at this point, and it will depend completely on his recovery. They have five players that some team in the NBA would be willing to pay the max, and they have some very well compensated role players. Something will have to give.

To piggyback on Sirron's stuff (chill bro, I only "love" Bron like that), its going to be a tough nut to crack for them to keep Boogie next summer.

They don't have his bird rights, so the dubs can only give him a max of 6.4M next year (cause he's a non-bird free agent and they surely will be in the tax meaning only the tax payers MLE of 5.8m will be available if they don't use his "rights" to sign him).

So the only way to pay him more is to shed salary and get below the salary cap. Looking at their books, if KD and Klay come off the books along with all the non-guaranteed contracts, the dubs will have about 31m in cap space (with only 4 guaranteed contracts on the books and that doesn't include the incomplete roster charge of 8 spots = 7.2m). If you don't even count that roster charge, that's still not enough for a 30% max player like Boogie (32.7m).

So Boogie is most likely gone and I'm thinking they bust through the luxury tax to keep KD and Klay there till their new SF facility opens up so they can trot out a championship caliber team into the inaugural year of that building...and pop that cherry atop that cupcake.

@Big Mamma Jamma I may be TooBias on this subject...but a huge weight was lifted ;) when Bron signed. So I may have to give it Arrest to Develop any feelings of excitement for KD.

Till then, I'm in a funke, so much so that a p***** ain't doing s*** for my junke. And here I thought cupcakes were an aphrodisiac...
