I thought I would start a thread based on member names and avatars. As much as I come to LB, which is daily, the one thing I find myself doing everytime I log on is asking “what does that name mean, or why did they use that avi?” I’m sure I’m not alone.

So tell us, what does your name, and avi, mean and/or why did you choose it?

I’ll start: I use “Jaguar” because I happen to like cats and feel that Jaguars represent the most versatile version. They have the best balance of qualities of any cat and I tend to favor “balance” as a quality in anything. And I used to have a different name in CL, but couldn’t revive it to LB, so I had to use something different.

I was, probably more than any other band at the time, a huge Weezer fan growing up. I had a couple Weezer shirts I’d wear a lot, a Weezer patch on my jacket, people knew I was a fan. My friend’s father, who thought he was a comedian, used to call me Weezy because of it. So when the internet started becoming more accessible and discussion forums blew up, and I really got into one on the gamers.com forums and a big Star Wars forum around 2000/2001 (not much later a group of us left gamers and started our own game discussion forum, and we remain a group on Facebook still, almost 20 years later), and I needed to come up with a username. At the time I was really into Weezer’s Green Album, so I made my username WeezySlob, a combination of what my friend’s dad called me, and my favorite song off the album. Not too much later on our gaming forum I dropped the “Slob” part as everyone just called me Weezy by then. So that stuck, and it became my username on almost every forum I joined for years and years after that, until I really got into the Strokes and started using a different one made up of a combination of their song titles for email and then Instagram and some other accounts.

My avatar is this, because Nick Miller is the most relatable tv character for me personally maybe ever, and really what more could you ask for? That statement, and that resolved facial expression, that says it all

It is quite obvious to some that my name is the first words to the chorus of The Eagles' hit record New Kid In Town, which was released the same year I was born. I generally love rock music for all-time and its different genres and sub-genres. The Eagles are right up there with my own personal Top 10 tracks, and the chorus is catchy AF so it sounds like a great name to use in a forum.

As for my avatar, what is in the picture, is what I "love" so just read between the lines.

@Weezy I like me some Weezer myself:

Never heard the song. Just listened to it though. Nice song, smooth melody.

Can’t go wrong with Weezer. Good musical style; great videos.

When I first lurked on CL all those years ago, there was already a guy named The Real Deal, but he had already stopped posting as much. Then I saw somebody refer to a FA as "the real deal" (I want to say Artest, but I honestly can't remember) and it just seemed to stick in my mind. That's it.

I didn't have an avatar for a long time, but I chose the bigs because great post play to me is like ballet for dancing fans. It's gorgeous to watch someone operate on the low block with efficiency and balance. My favorite non-Laker is Hakeem Olajuwon. That's why I was blinded with Okafor dreams when he was coming in. For the record, I think Okafor would have made a good pro in a better system instead of the openly tanking Philadelphia squad he ended up with. It's too bad because he might be broken beyond repair and it seems the game has passed him by at this point. Oh well.

Hideo Gosha is Japanese filmmaker who masterfully portrays the cruelties of the Yakuza World and the Samurai life.

James Glickenhaus throws everything and the kitchen sink into the movies he makes.

My name is John and I was born on March 16th. Duh

Seriously, I was one of the 1st 10 at CL under the name Kobegotskillz. I was on vacation when the Kobe rape case broke. When I came back, CL had gone from 50 to like 5000. Mad house. And I didn't get along with some members and acted immaturity. So I decided to come back with a Bible verse that would hopefully remind me to act mature and respectful.

Wasn't it RealDeal at cl, not the real deal?

Anyway, I like punk rock music and my personality is pretty unfiltered and sarcastic. I have a huge heart but a lot of times I DGAF about being pc (I don't hurt feelings though). I'm kinda like OX actually.

This name is probably the one that confused me most. I always think “chicken” whenever I see it. I would have never figured that one out. Haa. Very interesting.

I have no idea who that is, but that’s funny. Nope, good ol’ turtle face Nick Miller.

I wonder from time to time if people think I am a Lil Wayne fan. I don’t know when he started using that name, but like I said I’ve had it since the late 90’s.

My name is based on a character from a fantasy book written by Andrzej Sapkowski (the guy who created the Witcher). An astral with extraordinary intelligence and some magic powers trapped in the body of a huge and very strong redneck who looks like and also is an idiot. Very funny and unique character, one of my all time favorites.

I have no idea why I chose my name. I literally can't for the life of me remember why I chose it. The avatar on the other hand is an obnoxious piece of art I got years and years ago with the sole purpose of trolling my wife (then girlfriend). She hates it and it got "lost" last time we moved. But a little while back I found a high quality jpeg of it and had it put on a canvas at Costso and hung it in the Living Room when my wife was out of town. I didn't choose the troll life. The troll life chose me.

    I'm 39 years old.
