He might not even garner interest in a G-League team unless it is for PR reasons...

I bet Pops plans to give the finger to the NBA's new HS plan since Melo wouldn't be eligible to graduate until next year even nor the NBA's version likely be ready ... and plans to bring him into this new league of his and have him become a star and also help launch the league. Book it. In his head anyway. Is LaMelo up to that next year playing against really good HS kids? Probably. Lithuania against the men has to have helped. Maybe taller. Stronger. A little more meat. An ever improving game from where it is now (aside from the chucking issue).

I’m shocked that Gelo declared for the draft. I know it’s not a crazy deep draft, but I can see him easily going undrafred, all footage I’ve seen of him does not say NBA player.

LOL .... you know he doesn't want to go back to Lithuania or probably even Europe again vs the creature comforts he now must appreciate in the good ole USA. He'll take his chances. And keep working HARD here rather than overseas. IF he really wants it.

Scoring that much is impressive, but absolutely nothing in this video says NBA player. At best we're talking about that kid who shot lights out in Summer League. A 3&D player without the D.

Lakers better not draft that scrub. Let's see Lavar's face when he heads back to Europe... or G-League. All Ball kids on the Lakers or Lonzo bails? I call your bluff.

Come on Lavar, just say Gelo is the best draft pick ever and should be #1 pick.

I'm with Joe kind of to be honest. If he works hard for it then hopefully he gets it. I'm not saying I'd draft him, but I'm also not rooting for his failure.

Exactly, sometimes the online discourse comes across as rooting for his failure due to the Lavar hate, but that’s definitely not the case for me. I hope he does well.

If I had to bet, I’d say he’s not going to have a long NBA career, but at some point he’ll log minutes in an NBA game. Probably goes undrafted, but I can see him getting summer league and G-League invites and eventually someone will call him up on a 10 day contract.

Yeah that’s not saying much, but if the kid can fulfill his dream of making it to the NBA and then go back to have a productive international career, more power to him.

For what it’s worth, if it weren’t for the Lavar noise, I’d want to give him a shot in summer league. I think he could possibly replicate what Wear is giving is (although unlikely). I just wouldn’t do it because that would feed Lavar’s ego and make him think he has some level of power in our decision making.

I'm completely ok saying he probably needs a reality check.

He's about to get one IMHO. If not, I wish him massive success, but no, I don't see a place for him on the Lakers.

It's possible that playing overseas was the wake up call he needed. I know for a fact the kid really needed/needs to grow up, but if he gets invited to the combine and does well, I hope he gets a camp invite.

His father's showmanship certainly did nothing to help him. He probably helped Lonzo's popularity, but it didn't help this kid who is way less talented.
