Tough couple of games for IT...but it's really been our defense that is costing us late in the game.

It's good for IT to get these reps in. He's doing a good job of setting up our bigs and we're going to need him to close these games for us while BI is out. He is still getting to know his teammates so I think it's still an adjustment period we juust have to be patient.

I'm thinking its the amount of tribute videos he expects next season once he's off to another team.

Seriously, wouldn't mind holding onto him, but don't see any way it happens unless we whiff on the #2018Plan (ie contingency plan).

I'm sorry to say this but I think we're a better team without Isiah, he's a one dimensional player that turns the ball over way too much. Especially during crunch time. This team cannot be a perennial defensive future juggernaut where we switch on everything with a player of his size. Now imagine replacing that switching defense with a Paul George that's 6'10 vs 5'8 Isiah. We should not resign this dude in the off season. Let another team have him

    @OmarE

I agree .... hate him in there in crunch time. The plays he tries to make are high on the difficulty scale and his control of the ball right now and his athleticism are not at the level required to consistently convert them more than turning it over. Would be great to have Hart in or BI in or both of them in crunch time over IT. Earlier in the game ...we can like the energy and the offense and spark he brings.

He makes me miss Clarkson. He’s selfish, takes bad shots, misses the easiest shots, has to jump to pass and makes horrible turnovers. He complains when someone doesn’t cover for him on defense, he has this sour look on his face half the time, I can see why teammates get sick of him.

IT is no where near back to game shape and is still getting the rust off. Going to give him the rest of the season before rushing to judgment. Just a few games ago he was being exalted as a better 6th man than Clarkson....lol

Im 100% agree. But i think PG is 6'9 on a good day. IT just doesn't fit this team. They are trying to build a defensive minded culture and he is literally the opposite of that.

Especially since clarkson was really starting to play within the offense a bit more. IT just comes in and does everything you just mentioned.

Barring a massive improvement in this final stretch of games, I think I’ve seen enough.

When he’s on, he’s good. He can get buckets, get to the free throw line, and drop dimes. He’s probably still good for a few 30 points/10 assist games a month where he’ll singlehandedly carry our bench and keep us alive.

When he’s off, he’s atrocious. Not coming close on open shots, forcing up bad shots, getting into positions where he’s trapped due to his height and lack of athleticism. But the thing is even when he’s having a good game, I don’t trust him down the stretch. Those intrinsic weakesses and his ego have led to poor attempts at hero ball and opposing offenses targeting him. I can’t live with that inconsistency. When we’re fully healthy, I don’t think we really need the firepower he brings when he’s on. I don’t want him back.

There’s got to be a back up PG we can get on the market that can be had for cheaper. Someone who doesn’t think he’s a MVP. Someone who may not be able to score 30 points consistently but can play defense, make the simple passes to keep our offense moving, and hit the open 3. Like a non-garbage version of Ennis whose actually made solid contributions to a decent NBA team.

Of course, I would love to be able to look back at this post and laugh at myself from a hypothetical future where we retain IT and he becomes a huge (positive) difference maker after a summer of recovery, learning his teammates/our system, and tempering his ego ... I just don’t see that happening.

i could still foresee situations in which we bring him back, but yeah, i've seen enough. it gets ugly for tiny guards as they pass 30. you don't want to be on the hook for that. and he (legitimately) is going to be super upset at missing chances at a big payday, which won't be good for whichever locker room he inhabits.

IT needs to buy into the team. If he's hot then sure, keep shooting it. But if he's cold and off, let the kids handle it. Sure King of the Forth and all that but I'd rather it be Lonzo turning the ball over or Kuz missing some clutch shots.

He has a lot of bark and bite for his size but sometimes he needs to learn to set his ego aside, buy into the system. He has the rest of the season to show that and I'm sure he'd be a great 6th man for us next year. Otherwise I'm over this IT experiment.

I disagree with most of the comments here trashing IT2.

He's still working himself back from injury...and I think he's been really good for our bigs in terms of setting them up.

Once he gets his shot going, he's going to be a terror for other teams. We need Ball to handle the rock more when he's in there with IT2 and let Ball set IT2 up for open shots. IT2 is makin it tough for himself right now when he doesn't need to. That'll change with time and he'll get used to playing with Ball.

Also, we're forced to play him right now with BI and Hart out.
