This is a great in-depth look into why this road for the Ball kids is a mistake. The cliffnotes version:
    - European teams don't have time to mess around with kids. There is enormous pressure to win. Young Americans with no track record don't get playing time.
    - The life of an international athlete in Europe when you're not on the best teams is daunting. It's not lambos and rap videos, it's shady hotels and maybe not getting paid. I know a few international players and they all say that a lot of times it's not even worth it. You don't get paid until the end of the season and if the team didn't perform well, they might not pay you at all. You stay in the cheapest hotels, you're constantly at risk of being taken advantage of. These kids won't react well to that environment.
    - They get less exposure out there. There's a reason European prospects are typically so mysterious. If they go out there and they suck they won't play. If they go out there and they're good, they'll be hidden from NBA scouts.

So it’s like sending them to Siberia?

Will Lavar go watch the games in person?

Oh wow it's not just me. If he was really all that smart and not full of himself getting fuller by the day .... he would have known when to STFU.

LaVar is an absolute buffoon. But with that being said, I do feel sorry for his kids. LaMelo does have talent and unfortunately he is too young to stand on his own since his dad is a dominating personality in his life. Unfortunately, doors are being shut because of LaVar's boorish and tiresome behavior. LaVar is a moron. Potential opportunities for a better future are being shut down for those kids. Both of those kids could have a great education at UCLA but LaVar has just destroyed that possibility. It is so very sad.

I truly feel sorry for the family. His poor wife recovering from a stroke now has to worry about her other 2 sons' future because LaVar just yanked them out of school and higher education in case (likely) that pro basketball is not in their future. Jack** was so full of himself that he made these unilateral decisions about their lives. And now more and more people hate the guy. Wonder how the sales are going with the $500 dollar shoes after the fallout of everything he has done wrong in the past 5 weeks and with Lonzo struggling like no other with the offense. Bet it is offense that sells a lot of shoes and apparel. So when LaVar's grandiose shoes and his brand and apparel, if it happens, fall apart ..... like Cookie said poor Lonzo has that big house LaVar just bought and supporting his entire family in his future. As a father of 2 sons I hate LaVar Ball. Jack**!!!!

so if they get a career ending injury, which can happen, what type of future do they have?

what life skills do they have?

an education is forever, and much of the maturing that takes place during that few years in school is missing with our young one and done NBA players that jump to the NBA.

It's a problem, and he made it even worse for his kids. If none of them hit it big, they won't be selling a whole lot of $500 shoes and $50 shirts.

For what it's worth, he also apparently sent red, white, and blue Lonzo shoes (one pair each color) to the White House as a thank you.

Joel is much like Lavar in that they're trying to form their own identities and brands.

I find both annoying, but Joel is better at this.

Lavar talks s*** and is now backtracking a little in terms of his criticism towards the coaching staff. It seems like someone from the Lakers checked him...

I honestly don't think anyone said anything to him or if they did it was in passing. I have basically agreed with his takes on the coaching staff.

I don't agree with what he's doing with his younger sons, but what he's said about Lonzo on the court are mostly true.

He needs to understand that his role has changed and nobody is looking for him to give his opinion on how to coach his son anymore

Go sit in the stands and enjoy the game and keep your trap shut.

Don't think anyone said anything either but to his credit was smart enough to respond back with a good interview IMO, making light of things in translation like hey were all family. Lets not all get lost in the media sauce :) Also liked he was mature enough to make amends with Embiid. Saving face or not what he did was big IMO. We forget how young Embiid is and stuff just got wacky between them. Lead by example and was good to see two people squash it and have a nice, smiling moment.

Lavar has a big ego but i like what I've seen in these last couple vids. "Why would i have the answers to the test and not tell it to them" or somen like that lol! Like he wasnt being a smart-alec about it but just "keeping it real" imo. Making sure no stone is unturned.

I'm not sure I understand the reference there, but without personal development and education, their future will be limited without basketball success. The lifespan of any professional athletic career is relatively short, and most end up bankrupt soon after their playing career is over.

Hopefully they have a different story, but if they just end up being borderline pro prospects, they are set up for a lifetime disappointment unless they take on other skills in life. Lavar did, so I'm sure they will be fine, but I don't agree with his approach to life in general.
