That mid-range shot was there just about all night. The guys clearly don't practice it because it was there to have and the only one who could take advantage consistently was Clarkson.

He build a brick house last night. The mid-range jumper is a lost art.

We have some problems. I was not willing to jump on Ball and Ingram's shooting woes 4-5 games into the season, but we're now 14 games in. They still can't hit the broad sign of the barn. I don't get it. They both shot well enough in college, and the looks they are missing are often wide open. We are winning on the backs of 3 players that are likely not part of our future in Randle, Clarkson and Lopez.

Why would we do that when LeBron is clearly better than the three of those players put together?

Also, I believe Brook is still a big part of our future. The only caveat is if we were to sign Cousins.

BI is 14th in the entire league in terms of defensive win share rankings (outliers are Detriot's Ellenson at 11th, who's only played 5 games and Clipper's Teodosic at 13th, who's only played 2 games, with both players playing nowhere close to 30+ mins per game). Out of players that have played 30+ mins and every game of the young season, BI is 8th overall in defensive rating.

The next Lakers in the top 50 defensive win share list are KCP at 34th with Zo at 40th. Meanwhile #FutureLaker George is at 9th.

Keep getting your Kawhi on young fella...the offense will eventually get there.

The hell does "defensive win share" mean? Who makes these stats? Stephen Hawking? Why do we need to see OBHGTFR% pers to know if someone stinks or sucks or is good? Basketball isnt hard to figure out. You either can play or not. Whats with all the advanced stats.

@therealdeal Boston is playing ridic D right now. They're 1st in overall team defensive rating and obviously its lead to their win streak. As a result, you got 5 C Bags in the top 10 in defensive win share ratings (Tatum being one of them....kid is solid, no doubt....Philly botched that trade haha).

@Khmrp The DRPM (defensive real plus minus) is based off an estimation of 100 possessions, while defensive rating and win shares is based off the minutes you logged and the impact it made on wins respectively. Nutshell: estimation/projection vs what you really did.

@OX1947 Advanced metrics is going to be all the rage, cause not only did LA hire the metrics man this year, he's going to using all these numbers to sell other teams in trades (Randle and Clarkson are killing real plus minus ratings in their limited minutes) and to also help bring in free agents (we're currently rated higher than SA in defensive efficiency, but that's without Kawhi...if we keep it up, you can tell free agents hop on board and make our top 10 defense number 1 overall...its all about selling that culture, boss).

Ingram's calling card should be defense. He's been a good defender in college and the NBA. As he gains strength and improves his conditioning I think he's going to be a heck of a player in that regard. It should be his number one focus.

I didn't like all the 20 point per game scoring talk and BI buying into it at the beginning of the season when he was iso-ing to death. It's good that he's working on the offense and being aggressive. I think it'll all come together for him in the long run but right now I agree with some others here that it's a work in progress for the next couple years. I don't mind that. I just want him to play smart and not force it with the iso ball. Move the rock, D it up, drive aggressively because no one can really stop that, and work on free throws in a HUGE way now to get your scoring up. He's getting those calls this year, now capitalize on them.

    I was just kidding. :D

And yes Philadelphia screwed up that trade. I was never 100% sold on Fultz from a mental standpoint let alone all this strange shoulder injury news... I was however pretty high on Tatum. I liked his talent a lot coming out of the draft.

Incidentally, this draft is one of my favorites. Ball, Tatum, Smith Jr., Kuzma, and Donovan Mitchell all look truly special. I wasn't high on Smith Jr. (similar to Fultz), but boy was Dallas the perfect landing spot for him. I wasn't super high on Mitchell either, but he's got tremendous confidence and heart that is sometimes hard to read on film. And obviously I wasn't high on Kuzma either, but his confidence is off the charts and his stroke looks so much better in the pros than it did in college.

There's also other guys who have proven they're NBA caliber in Jordan Bell, Semi Ojeleye, Dillon Brooks, Caleb Swanigan, Jarrett Allen, John Collins, Malik Monk, Lauri Markkanen, Frank Ntilikina, and De'Aaron Fox. All of these guys show great upside for youngsters and I expect one or two of them to be really good in a couple of years.

That doesn't even include other solid prospects like Fultz, Isaac, Patton, Giles, Hart, Rabb, Evans, Thomas Bryant, Thornwell, Frank Mason III, OG Anunoby, and Terrance Ferguson.

I mean hot damn. And technically Ben Simmons is a rookie in this year too.

And Ben Simmons is far and away the best rookie. Dude is already playing like a top 20 player.

If advanced stats said Kobe was the greatest of all time, then they'd have some credibility in my mind.

    :Brows:

However, they seem to favor LLLLLebron, and anyone with common sense knows that's ridiculous. The eye test for the MF'n win.

I want LaBron even more, cause your meme/gif game will go to another level, sirron haha.

That being said, advanced stats has KAJ as the best overall statistical monster...over Lebron, over Jordan..over anybody! So there's your advanced metrics Laker love bro. Personally, I'm more interested in team stats.

Only reason to want Lebron is to have a chance. However, I have never felt comfortable with him in big moments. When he has come up big, like the block on AI in the 2016 Finals, that was the defining clutch moment for me with him. Advanced stats tell a vague, marked up story. You can't judge the moments in a game to stats. When Shaq used to dunk on everyone in his prime, it was 2 points, however, when you looked at the Dale Davis' and Sabonis' faces after those dunks, you felt like he just shattered their will and lives by looking at their face and it meant more than just 2 points.

When Shaq would go out with 2 fouls ALMOST EVERYTIME on the road in the playoffs in the first 5 minutes of the game, Kobe kept things in line and it just shattered teams hope. And these were against REALLY good teams. Any of the teams the Lakers beat in those games like the Spurs, Kings, Pacers, etc. Those teams had every chance to win it all those years.

League has changed so much. League has eliminated the aggressiveness on defense. Now if you make hard fouls or even look at a guy wrong its a Tech 1 or 2. So players now can score, pass and rebounds like never before without consequence. Empty stats are becoming more the norm. In the end, winning is the only stat that matters.
