What I mean was were they not informed that China is not a democracy and their laws are different and to be on extremely good behavior. Also, they shouldn’t have been allowed to go out unsupervised if they did.

International play is not the norm for colleges, and sometimes mistakes are behind all the best policies and procedures. You can bet this is in the manual now!

I don't think anything will happen. UCLA was there on an officially scheduled, invited visit. Trump is in China. I doubt they will want to mud the picture up.

    Slap on the wrist.

Trump has nothing to do with any of this. This is not an affair of the State. It's a local crime and will be treated as such.

You can bet your behind that Trump being there impacts their decisions. They wouldn’t want to spoil an otherwise perfect visit. This bodes well for Gelo.

The US Embassy in China and State Dept are definitely involved. First off, to ensure American citizens are treated fairly. Negotiating on their behalf. And ultimately, trying to get them out of China at first opportunity.

These guys are 18 or something...

Should they have held hands to make sure no one gets lost?

You never know when the anomaly will happen in their behaviour. Easy to be smart after the bad stuff happened. Besides you say that and you will get labelled racist real fast...

    Yeah...

When in China, yes, they probably should have held hands if it means not getting arrested.

This just blows my mind. 3 freaking stores? How dumb can you be? Begs the question of thug life or just entitled jerks. Hard to understand thug life with the backgrounds of Ball's family and all they have going on right now (of which he is royally f****** up the brand currently) and Hill whose Pops is George Hill. Know nothing of Riley except HS coach is out there saying best kid ever when he had him. Of course. So I'll go with dumbest entitled jerks ever. Wonder if they went with the "hoodie" apparel while on their shopping excursion?

    :Nope:

Apparently they’re dumb as 11 year olds if they stole from 3 freakin high end stores. So again, you’re a school, you take your students to a foreign country like China, you watch them like a hawk. Not doing so isn’t worth it, because legal adults or not they are kids to me, and kids are really stupid, especially around their friends.

There is an upside to all of this perhaps? Great stuff for real life drama added to Ball In The Family series. Kinda sucks a little for Gelo with the prison time but LaVar already said "it ain't no big deal". Quote freaking unquote. Whilst pissing off the ESPN of China, the Chinese production company there filming for his Show and stiffing Chinese basketball fans (some of whom traveled between provinces and took time off school and work to get to be on court with Melo) not once .....but twice with BS excuses Melo wasn't feeling well. Then he's spotted on the court anyway, at least for the first appointed time in question, practicing or whatever. LaVar the "Genius" acting as dumb as his kid over there. I blame China for all of this. Clearly all a plot to embarrass the Ball family and 2 (3 counting Melo?) of them took the bait hook, line and sinker.

Actually.... once they said they have TV surveillance of them stealing from 3 high end stores it makes me wonder is this for real?

I mean the Ball family his huge right now, China is big into NBA basketball, and this whole thing is so strange it makes me suspicious as to if this is true or just some strange political stunt by China.

Is it healthy for society to see them as such?
