Training camp talk , everybody is positive about everything ... A 27th ranked defense (or better) would be an improvement

    17 : last
    16 : last
    15 : 29th
    14 : 28th

it's the time of year when everyone talks about defense. then the games start happening...

i will say that lopez and kcp, plus ingram's development, should be helpful. but we're still going to be running randle, clarkson, and lonzo out there for heavy minutes. unless something has changed about the former two and the latter is way ahead of skinny rookie schedule, that doesn't bode well.

so, yeah, let's try to score a lot.

yeah we should try approaching the 16-17 Nuggets level as much as possible , a dominant offense with a terrible D.

I don't see us being a top 4 offense , but 8-12 should be the goal

In all seriousness, yes we have a long way to go and definitely won’t be a defensive juggernaut. I don’t think it’s hard for us to improve on that end though with just consistent effort.

i agree that defense is about consistency, effort, and intelligence, probably moreso than physical ability (see spurs, san antonio), but my second belief is that those first three qualities are hard to "coach up". if you don't have the personnel, don't fight against the grain. go full dantoni. i don't have defenders, so we'll just kinda concede that and try to get so far out in front of you that it doesn't matter.

it's a terrible strategy if you're a contender (because the best handful of teams will always beat that), but it's a really quick path to competitiveness if you're in the cellar. it's easier to find guys who can score and want to play uptempo offense than guys who pride themselves on well-timed rotations.

The other thing with defense is can you lock down when you are running sprints for 48 minutes? These guys will need to have nasty stamina.

They've been harping on communication making their defense better the past few days in the interviews. I heard Randle and Ingram mention it a few times especially. I think Randle mentioned that's one of the things that makes Draymond so great is that he's talking on the court all the time.

I really do think if they can just be more vocal for rotations defensively, it would instantly improve things.

This is pretty embarrassing. I'd have taken the ball and laid it in just to watch it go through the hoop... Loser organization still trying to shed that stink.

Seriously though, why would anyone let that video slip?

That's embarrassing. There are U-14 clubs that shoot better than this.
