I like that he's using his own money. Too many owners hold cities hostage, demanding tax increases to fund stadiums and arenas that they profit off of, or else they'll leave.
That sucks. If it's just a consultant role I don't see why we didn't offer that. The Clippers moving out of our building finally, great news.
Actually if the Clippers play there it would just be "The Western Forum", as in the meeting place to the west. Nothing great about it.
There's got to be some reason the Lakers did not invite Logo back as a consultant when he hinted about his interest. Only misstep the team leadership has made since the changeover.
Maybe this was as far back as when Phil was still in the picture with Jeanie and bringing West back meant no Phil coming back when he was done destroying the Knicks. Maybe saying no to West was leaving a crack open for Phil. Only thing I can come up with. Or I guess like realdeal said, maybe Jeanie wanted Magic to feel like the top basketball boss, with no legend above him to have to feel like he has to answer to. Still, "consultant" isn't exactly president or CEO.

The more I think about this the more annoyed I get. We could have had the selling power of Magic AND Jerry West, but now West is a competitor and could very well bring in Ryan to be the Clippers GM, because Doc sucks at it.
Jerry West to Clippers, rumors of Lebron to LA, things are lining up for them. Sucks if we lose Ryan in the process but they might actually promote him to GM.
Still not sold on Lebron leaving Cleveland again but I could see how the allure of bringing the Clips to Championship glory could draw him in.
yeah, the clippers need a re-branding, and adding jerry west whilst distancing themselves from the lakers are good steps towards that. if they actually got lebron, they may finally find themselves on even footing with the lakers in terms of prestige. one of the reasons, i'm ok with dumping everything to get lebron if it's a possibility.
