Romo should stay retired. His body can't hold up anymore. If you can't stay healthy behind the best OL in football then you are likely done. Smart decision for him. His family and long term healthy is more important than a Super Bowl chase.

Wish him the best. Think he'll be an excellent broadcaster. Terrific quarterback for a long time. Never won a Super Bowl, but put that more on Jerry Jones than Romo. Some really bad football decisions over the years. Finally put a complete team around him in 2014. Played great against the Packers and made an excellent play on 4th and 2 and it wasn't a catch so they say. Then his body just gave out on him.

Cowboys move forward with Dak and that's exciting. Now they really need to look toward the draft and add some defensive players. Especially in the secondary and on the defensive line.

People crap on Romo because he's the Cowboys QB, but statistically he was an all-timer. Clutch-wise, he actually had incredible 4th quarter numbers. But there's only so much you can do when your teams typically have no defense and you are running for your life most of your career.

Yeah man totally agree. Growing up Romo was my guy. My favorite quarterback. My favorite Cowboy along with Witten and Ware. Cowboys found a gem in Romo. Undrafted free agent to a 3X Pro Bowler.

There were countless games where Tony plays his a** off and gets the team a lead or in position to win a football game against a good team and the defense folds. Everyone always blames Romo even though he carries the football team. Think back to the Denver game in 2013. Outplayed an all time great in Manning. The year the Giants won the SB there was a game in Dallas where Romo outplays Eli. Gives the Cowboys a double digit lead with like five minutes left. Defense coughs it up. Everyone blames Romo.

2014 against Green Bay. Had 2 TD's, no picks, 15/19, 100 QB rating, no quarterback had ever put up those numbers and lost a road playoff game until Romo. His career in a nut shell. He's put up this crazy numbers and had just some unbelievable performances. Really in his prime and peak he was a top five QB imo.

You think of a team like San Francisco. When they were really good. Three straight NFC Championship Games. Went to a Super Bowl. That was with Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick. Solid quarterbacks, but if they had a QB like Romo there is no doubt in my mind he puts them over the top. It's exactly what Romo never had. The great run game, OL, and defense along with a great coaching staff. Romo had the dominant OL and run game for one year in his career and during that one year had an MVP season and took them to the brink of the NFC Championship, but even during that year had an average defense.

They wasted the guy's career. No doubt about it. Jerry has to live with that and fortunately they found another gem in the 4th round. Dak is a special young QB imo. I think he's only gonna get better especially with the pieces around him. A great, young back in Ezekiel Elliott. A dominant OL. Weapons like Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley, Jason Witten. What I really hope is they don't make the same mistake with Dak. Meaning get a freaking defense. You have one difference maker as of right now on that side and that's Sean Lee. Maybe Jaylon Smith returning can be that guy. The talent is definitely there. Need to get him healthy and acclimated. This draft is deep where the Cowboys are weak. Pass rush and secondary. Guys like Taco Charlton, Charles Harris, Tak McKinley, all could come in and be that impact edge rusher. Guys in the secondary such as Jabrill Peppers, Obi Melifonwu, Addore Jackson, Kevin King, etc. All players who can be that defensive presence. Gotta shore things up on that side if we plan on competing with New England, Atlanta, New York, and Green Bay.

Keeping an eye on them 'Pokes. The East just got tougher. Eagles and Giants I think upgraded themselves with their recent signings...offensively at least. 'Skins not so much. Ya'll lost two thirds of the O-line and much of the secondary. The draft though is defensively heavy so some hay can be made there. We (the Raiders) are in the same boat. I am looking forward to Romo in the booth. Simms gets on my nerves at times...

Romo is going to kill it in the booth. Have you seen his commercials? Better than Peyton.

The only commercial I've ever seen him do is the ESPN short where he played the receptionist. Liked it. So deadpan... I'll make sure to check out the recent ones. Romo could end up being the next Dandy Don Meredith as a broadcaster. Bonnie Bernstein was recently in the news when she criticized Romo's offhand (yet likely innocent) remark that commentating was an easy job.

I'm not all that worried about the players the Cowboys lost in free agency. They were vastly overpaid and when it mattered most they were all apart of a defense that couldn't make plays when it mattered most. At some point you can't just keep signing or re-signing average players. They need to try and get difference making impact players which I believe you can find in the draft.

I fully expect the NFC East to be a dog fight once again. It seemingly always is. Giants defense is legit and gave the Cowboys plenty of issues. Really the only team that was able to slow us down offensively. Think their success hinges upon Eli having a bounce back year. Will be interesting to see if they look at add a RB because they really don't have a workhorse and/or add to that offensive line which has been a weakness of their team.

Philadelphia is gonna be tough. They definitely got stronger offensively with the addition of Jeffrey who is still a legit #1 wide receiver in this league. Torrey Smith can't be any worse than some of the other subpar weapons they've had. Their OL is solid when Lane Johnson is in the lineup. That front is among the best in the league although it could take a step back without Barwin and Logan. Like the Giants they could use a #1 back to help take some of that pressure off Wentz who definitely showed some promise last season as a rookie, but also showed still has a lot of room to grow and definitely needed more weapons around him.

You can never dismiss Washington because just when you do they will surprise you with a good season. Cousins is coming off a good season. They have a terrific OL. With that offensive system and still having weapons like Reed, Crowder, and the addition of Pryor I don't see a major drop off in offensive production. Their defense is awful though. By far the worst in the division and that could hold them back from being a real contender. They also just fired their GM who had done a terrific job. Typical Redskins move.

Definitely a tougher schedule next year. There is at least four legit Super Bowl contenders on it. Oakland, New York, Seattle, and Atlanta. You can maybe include Kansas City in that mix. Our offense will keep us in most games. Dak in his 2nd year should only continue to grow. He and Dez should be better together in their 2nd year of playing together. They lost two starting linemen, but really they were the weakest links of the team. I wonder how good Leary will be without playing with three All Pro linemen and Free should've retired two years ago. La'El Collins can step right in at LG and there shouldn't be much drop off. Could even swing out to RT.

The questions about this defense remain. It's gotta to be better. Really no way around it. When the offense isn't dominant they struggle and get exposed. They don't have a #1 corner, or a playmaker at safety, don't have an edge rusher, pretty solid at LB, some good rotational linemen, and they do have some good starters in the secondary, but they really need more depth across the board and to find one or two impact players. Jaylon Smith if healthy is definitely one, but doesn't really have the pass rush or the secondary. He just makes the LB corps among the best in the league.

^Washington will fold when it matters. Philly can hang but only for so long. Depends on how Wentz has progressed. The Giants are your biggest adversary. Thought about how Collins will do but he does have talent. Marinelli is a really good defensive coach...

Cowboys will host the Giants to open up the season for the third time in a row. It'll be a Sunday night game. Hopefully Dak gets some revenge on the one team that made him look like a rookie.

Rest of the schedule will be announced at 7pm central time on NFL Network.

Packers will reportedly visit AT&T Stadium on October 8th. That'll be at 3:25 pm on FOX.

Cowboys visiting the Falcons in Week 10 probably another Sunday night game.

Face the Giants again in Week 14 at the Meadowlands. They alternate on NBC and FOX so that likely is a FOX game once again at 3:25.

The schedule this season is a freaking gauntlet. Honestly, 10-6 with this murderer's row would be a great feat. So much of what we do this season will be dependent on Jaylon Smith returning to the form that would have made him a top 2-3 pick and how quickly our draft picks (who will undoubtedly be almost all secondary at this point and probably a pass rusher in the first round) adapts to the NFL.

I'm not worried about the players we lost in free agency either. Carr was sort of our Mr. Reliable back there. He's like a Honda Accord. Soild, gives good effort, but never any next level performance. Claiborne is never on the field. Church is OK, but easily replaceable. This draft is supposed to be deep in DB talent. Grab the best pass rusher available in the first round and then start loading up at corner and safety.

Wouldn't say it's a gauntlet. It looks very tough right now, but honestly so did last year's schedule. You had matchups with Pittsburgh, Minnesota, and Green on the road and also home games vs Cincinnati, Baltimore, and of course division games are always tough. A lot of those teams were expected to be contenders and Dallas ran through them and conviently people said it was a soft schedule.

I could see them having another 13 win season, or maybe 12-4 or 11-5. Not nearly as pessimistic as some people. Like every year there are teams everyone thinks will be really good teams that end up being not so much. As good as Dak was as a rookie and same goes for Zeke Elliott odds are they'll be even better having a full offseason to improve and refine their games. Not to mention the supporting cast is largely in tact.

Defensive upgrades are necessary and they will happen. This draft is littered with defensive backs and pass rushers which really are the only things this Cowboys team is missing. All indications are Jaylon will be healthy and ready to go so not too worried about it. The one thing that concerns me is the backup QB. If Dak goes down I worry about a repeat of 2015. If Dak stays healthy and continues to progress and develop I really see no reason the Cowboys won't be very good again next year.

I think some of the 8-8 predictions are ridiculous. This team won 13 games with two rookies. Typically guys that young and inexperienced who play at that high level only get better especially when they're not in a position where they have to carry the team. Other than the Falcons I don't see another offense being as good as the Cowboys. Maybe the Packers. This will be a top five offense again and with the necessary additions on defense this team will be just fine.

Looks like Jaylon's nerve has started to regenerate. If he makes it all the way back the Cowboys stole another top five pick with that pick.

Already a great draft having found a terrific young QB, a great back, and a couple of quality starters on defense in Browns and Collins.

Getting Jaylon healthy could make it one of the best drafts in Cowboys history.

Jaylon is a beast. Him and Lee flying around. Damn. We really need to shore up that secondary with this draft. It is a glaring hole right now.

Draft is only three days away. Biggest needs right now are DE, CB, and SS.

I wouldn't even consider an offensive player until Round 4 or so and that's only if it's a RT.

I think we're good at RT with Chaz Green as long as he stays healthy. I wouldn't mind one more WR in the 3rd round if someone like JuJu Shuster-Smith is available. Otherwise, this is an all D draft for us.

Agreed. Two teams to watch on draft day are the Cowboys and Raiders. Both teams are probably #2 or #3 in their conference as of right now. I'd say New England is the favorite in the AFC with Oakland/Pittsburgh behind them. In the NFC I'd have to give the advantage to Atlanta, but I don't think the Cowboys are far behind. Also put the Packers maybe the Giants right there with them if they add some more weapons on offense.

The draft is a chance for some of these teams to close that gap. Cowboys and Raiders are kind of in the same boat. Very explosive offense, very good young QB's, great OL, but some holes to fill on defense. Will be interesting to see if both are able to fill them and close that gap.

I think we need to go all defense. I'd rather go pass rusher in the first and then secondary the rest of the way. I mean, as it stands right now, we're likely going to need a couple of these rookies to play MAJOR minutes, if not start from game 1. We need to just draft away back there and play the numbers game. I keep hearing Adoree Jackson or Peppers for the Cowboys. Those two guys will need some time to develop in the NFL; time the Cowboys don't have seeing as they will need to be ready to go right away. Having said that, I like the kid out of Washington Sidney Jones. He just got hurt, but the doctors say he'll be ready to go week one. He's going to drop because of that injury and could be there for the Cowboys in the late second round as a first round talent.

I'm really hoping the pick is Watt. I'd be fine with Harris as well. To me you can find secondary players especially cornerbacks later in the draft. Cowboys found a pretty solid young corner in the 6th round last year in Brown. I believe Scandrick was a 5th rounder as well. However with the pass rushers the longer the wait the less likely it is you can find a truly impactful pass rusher which I think the Cowboys need more than anything.

    Cowboys select Taco Charlton.

Definitely not my first choice, but a solid pick nonetheless.

Marinelli will make the most out of him.
