It's one of the better rumors as far as rumors go. Obviously floated by the agent mentioned at the end. Chances of actually happening I would estimate at a generous 10%.

How sweet revenge it would be if we ended up with AD after being Stern'd.

With Davis under contract until 2020 (with 2020-2021 being a player option), the Pelicans are going to be doing everything they can to make Davis happy in New Orleans before even thinking about shipping him off to the Lakers. Barring a trade demand, I wouldn't see The Brow being traded until 2019, whether it's the February trade deadline or the offseason.

Only if we can get few members of the Suns training/medical staff first

I'd be willing to tank for 2 more years and release all our kids if it meant landing us Westbrook and AD. F rebuilding. Straight back to the top!

He will ask for a trade during 2018 if NOP doesn't improve the team this upcoming summer AND aren't contending for a playoffs spot at the 2018 trade deadline imo.

I would say there is a 70-80% probability he will be traded between Feb and August 2018.

Westbrook has a player option for the 18-19 season so my guess is perfect :Noddingyes::Noddingyes:

Yup, I could see that. Especially since I have pretty much no confidence in their front office that in 2015 and 2016 handed out 187 million for 24 years to the powerhouse group of Omer Asik, Alexis Ajinca, Solomon Hill, Dante Cunningham, E'Twaun Moore, Tim Frazier and Langston Galloway. Frankly the best move was signing Terrence Jones off the scrap heap. Meanwhile they let Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson leave for nothing last summer and now this team is essentially Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday (who they gave up a #6 and a #10 pick - which became Nerlens Noel and Elfrid Payton - for), Terrence Jones and the ghost of Tyreke Evans and the latter three are all unrestricted FAs this summer.

Honestly, they may as well just trade Davis now because their desperation to field a decent team around him this summer will just lead to more bone-headed moves that'll hinder the team down the road. Hmmmmmm, maybe they'll be interested in Luol Deng! I mean, Veteran leadership.

That would be nasty! A backourt of Russell and hopefully Ball/Fultz combined with a superstar big men in AD, and possibly a very good SF in Ingram would be amazing.

    This summer:

Lakers trade: Luol Deng and Lou Williams
Pelicans trade: Solomon Hill and 2018 1st round pick

Why for the Pelicans? Veteran leadership baby! Acquiring Lou + Luol is all about "Let's do what we can to be competitive next season to keep The Brow happy"
Why for the Lakers? Team gets about 12 million in cap relief this summer and about 23 million in cap relief overall. Solomon Hill was a solid reserve in Indiana and the Pelicans made a dumb move signing him to be a starter. With the Lakers, he is back to being a solid reserve. Albeit an expensive one but he's a lot cheaper (by about 15 million) and younger (age 25) than Deng.

THEN when the Pelicans inevitably still end up sucking next season because adding Lou and Luol did little.....

Next summer, the Lakers can trade for AD - using the Pelicans' own 2018 high 1st round pick in the offer.

Great, now somewhere Jim and Mitch are planning to once again only give one year deal to players off the scrap heap every season and horde money for the 2020 plan.
