I figured I'd start a thread. They're not a good team, they're not really welcome in LA, and yet here we are. Also here is their logo:
They're already contracted to play in the Stubhub Center actually. The stadium only seats 30,000 tops which I'm actually pretty interested in. Could be fun.
"The problem is, the second team should have been the Raiders. The Southland is filled with Raiders fans everywhere. I have still never met a single Chargers fan." http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-chargers-to-la-plaschke-20170111-story.html
I know a bunch of Chargers fans, but absolutely the Raiders are the LA team that should have come here. The problem is (from the NFL's perspective), what do you do with the Chargers? They can't stay in SD where they're not wanted and they're not viable anywhere else in the country. No other city was willing to pay for them and they have no discernible fan base outside of California. The only other option was to look for a city that doesn't have a team, relocate, rebrand, and start from scratch. That's no real option. Meanwhile the Raiders have an enormous fan base everywhere. They're a global team almost. They can move to another city (Las Vegas) and thrive. The Chargers can't. So instead, the NFL puts the Chargers in a market that can and will support them financially and then gives the Raiders a brand new stadium in Vegas.
Philip doesn't want to be here http://oak.247sports.com/Bolt/Is-Philip-Rivers-trying-to-move-from-LA-to-San-Francisco-50613828
^ Totally fabricated story. And I don't think they'll fail honestly. I mean they'll never be embraced unless they win a Championship, but they'll always be as successful as they have to so they can stay in business. They're the NFL's Clippers.
I have relatives that are Charger fans... They reside in San Diego and a cousin is married to a Charger fan. The latter is happy he can go see them play locally. Weren't you hooked up with a gal who was one? I recall you mentioning it. You said she wasn't worth it cause she talked lots of smack when they were good and we were down.
Probably the lone LA Charger fan here lol. Me and my group of friends are all Chargers fans, and the area that I'm from, Ventura County, seems to have a good amount of Chargers fans. The thing about LA however, is that it is made up of transplants for the most part. I see more Broncos, Cowboys, Seahawks...whatever fans than I do any other team that's been here. That's the nature of it. Do I think what Spanos did was right to the people of SD? No. The people of SD didn't do him any favors by not going to the games either, so it's just a bad situation for both sides. I like that they are starting with playing games at the Stubhub center. It will create a more intimate feel to the game especially for the Charger fans that are left, as well as create a more buzzy atmosphere than the emptiness at Rams games.
