I saw 2 movies this weekend.

The Equalizer was really good. Denzel rarely makes a bad movie. Teaming up with Fuqua was a smart move. One of the better action flicks in recent years.

Gone Girl was great.... until the last minute. I don't even know what happened the last minute. Confused me. A lot. Otherwise, Affleck nailed it again.

Gone Girl is the best book-to- movie that I've seen/read in a LONG time. Fantastic story. Very original, very well done. Read the book and the see the movie. Some of the confusing parts of the movie will be explained.

    John3:16-
In the end they stay together even though she's a murderer and a psychopath. She used the semen he donated to have his baby, the baby he's always wanted, thus trapping him there forever if only to protect kid. Basically she wins: Nick becomes the obedient husband that dotes on her while she goes on to be a famous inspiration for the world. But Nick is fine with it because he realizes what she said is true: 1. he's his best when he's with her and 2. no one in the world will ever love him as much as her.

Haven't seen any of the above movies. This weekend, I had to watch a movie and write a 5 page paper on it, critiquing a theme and how it played with the cinematography of the film.

First watched Apocalypse now, and was utterly confused. I realized it was about Heart of Darkness (the book), but unfortunately i opted to skim that during high school instead of actually reading it.

I then watched Fargo, which I think was a very cool film, fun, gory, and had a great message about $ vs. family.

She is quite attractive in this movie... Quite. Not to mention she delivers some pretty good acting chops as well.

We got spoiler feature yet? Yup.

I think you were always a big advocate for The Shield, weren't you? I recently watched that and you know how that ends? With Mackey being destined to a desk job for 3 years while his family is in Witness Protection and he has no leverage left or friends or the ability to be the cop he wants to be. I think it's the a similar fate for Ben. He's tied up and essentially stuck between a rock and a hard place and he sees no way out.

She said she was pregnant, but he never touched her. So why did he think or act like it was his? Why couldn't he just leave? I get that he felt trapped, but if if the kid ain't his, why stay?

Remember back when he mentioned that he had gone to the fertility clinic and that they saved some of his semen and he had to get a notice when it was disposed of? Well she kept some of his semen to use it to get herself pregnant with his baby. He doesn't want his child to be alone with her and stays to help protect the baby.

@lakerswiz is right @John3:16 It's a scene that I'm sure got cut from the movie, but is... kind of important.
Yes and no. He IS scared and wants to protect his baby, but he also agrees with her. He's his best when he's with her. He's lost his mind at the end of the movie just as much as she has.

Watched 3 movies recently. Edge of Tomorrow, The Equalizer, and Gone Girl. Honestly, Edge of Tomorrow was probably my favorite of the three. The Equalizer was thoroughly mediocre but still enjoyable. Gone Girl was good, but not as good as it's being hyped up and I didn't really like the ending that much.

Anyone else excited for The Judge this weekend? I think Robert Downey Jr is an absolutely great actor and this flick is getting great reviews.

    "Judge...the penitentiary is that way!"

Right on about Downey. Duvall is a good actor in his own right. Thornton in the cast gives it that edge.

Just had a student write, "I know it's a really old movie, but I like Titanic."
